Since its humble beginnings in 1951, the Ateneo Law Journal has been run by dedicated, competent, and passionate student Editors. Over the years, as we see our Editors move on to be fully-fledged members of the legal field, we are proud to see our Editors turn into Alumni who carry with them the principles espoused by the Journal and make their respective marks in the community.
Hon. Jerry P. Treñas
The Honorable Jerry P. Treñas is the incumbent mayor of Iloilo City since 2019. He graduated with honors from the Ateneo de Manila School of Law in 1978 and placed 11th in the 1982 Bar Examinations. He served as an Editor of the Journal in its 25th Volume.

Gov. Evelio B. Javier †
Atty. Evelio B. Javier was a former Governor of Antique. He graduated from the Ateneo de Manila School of Law in 1968 and earned his Masters in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 1981. He served as an Editor of the Journal in its 14th and 15th Volumes.

Justice Hector L. Hofileña, Sr. (Ret.)
Justice Hector L. Hofileña served as an Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals. He graduated from the Ateneo de Manila School of Law in 1954. He served the Journal in its 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Volumes. He is also one of the first advisers of the Journal.

Chief Justice Renato Tereso Antonio C. Corona †
Chief Justice Renato Tereso Antonio C. Corona was the 23rd Chief Justice of the Philippines, having served from 2010 to 2012. He earned his Bachelor of Laws degree at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law in 1974. He placed 25th during his Philippine Bar examination. During his time in the Law School, he joined the Journal in its 18th Volume.

Justice Adolfo S. Azcuna is a former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, having served from 2002 to 2009. He earned his Bachelor of Laws degree at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law in 1962, where he graduated as cum laude. During his time in the Law School, he joined the Journal in its 10th Volume.

Justice Estela M. Perlas-Bernabe is a former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, having served from 2011 to 2022. Justice Arturo D. Brion is a former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, having served from 2008 to 2016. He earned his Bachelor of Laws degree at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law in 1974, where he graduated as cum laude and Valedictorian. During his time in the Law School, he joined the Journal in its 19th Volume.

Atty. Jacinto D. Jimenez †
Atty. Jacinto D. Jimenez was considered a legal luminary within the legal field, being an accomplished and prolific legal scholar, and having written numerous books and articles. He earned his Bachelor of Laws degree at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law in 1968. During his time in the Law School, he joined the Journal in its 15th Volume. He was also known for being the longest-serving faculty adviser of the Journal.

Dean Cynthia R. Del Castillo is a former Dean of the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law, having served from 1990 to 2000. Currently, she is a Senior Partner at Romulo Law. She earned her Bachelor of Laws degree at the Law School in 1976, where she graduated as Valedictorian. She placed 11th during her Philippine Bar examination. During her time at the Law School, she joined the Journal in its 21st Volume.

Atty. Teofisto “Tito” Guingona Jr. served as the 11th Vice President from 2001 to 2004 and was a delegate in the 1971 Constitutional Convention which amended the 1935 Constitution. He earned his Bachelor of Laws degree at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. During his time in the Law School, he joined the Journal in its 2nd Volume.

Atty. Axel Rupert M. Cruz is the Director of the Ateneo Legal Services Center. He graduated from Ateneo Law School in 2002 with honors, 5th in his batch and was awarded Best Thesis. He joined the Journal in its 45th iteration and continued to serve as an editor for its 46th volume.
Atty. Patricia Anne D. Sta. Maria
Atty. Patricia Anne D. Sta. Maria is a State Solicitor in the Office of the Solicitor General of the Philippines. She graduated from Ateneo Law School as Class Valedictorian in 2015 and earned her Masters of Law at Yale University in 2019. As a member of the Journal, she joined its 57th iteration and served until the 59th Volume.

The Ateneo Law Journal, for its 69th Volume, is now accepting Articles, Notes, Comments, and Essays from legal practitioners and scholars.
